Career Management Services

Marquette University College of Business Administration's approach to career management, spearheaded by Dr. Marq Stankowski's HIRE LEARNING PROGRAM, strives to close the gap between school and the world of work.  The program achieves this by engaging students in practical, hands-on business experiences where students take action for shaping their career goals and opportunities.  There are three main action paths for business students aspiring to reach their career goals:

  • Pre-Internship Program:  As early as freshmen year, students are encouraged to start building their career vision by participating in work experiences.  These experiences or pre-internships afford freshmen and sophomore business students the opportunity to gain insights into the business world and shape their career ambitions and vision.
  •
  • Internship Program:  Juniors and Seniors in the College of Business Administration are encouraged to participate in "value oriented" work experiences that reinforce the students' academic background and further their career planning.  Internships allow students to build a portfolio of classroom and on-the-job accomplishments that serve as personalized calling cards for the future.
  •
  • Career Planning Workshops:  In preparation for internships and that "job of choice" upon graduation, students attend interactive career development workshops throughout the academic year.  This is just one more action path that students can pursue as they shape their career ambitions and experiences.
  •

Career Planning Workshops offered by the College of Business Administration:

  • Cover Letter and Resume Writing
  • Interviewing; Techniques and Styles
  • Strategic Job Hunting
  • Career Motivation and Decision-Making
  • Team Leadership Skills
  • Networking Techniques
  • Career Counseling
  • Presenting a Professional Image

In conjunction with the HIRE LEARNING PROGRAM, business students have access to the College of Business Administration Employment Database.  Since its inception in 1996, the database has attracted over 400 employers offering both permanent and non-permanent positions to business undergraduates, graduates and alumni.

**The College of Business Administration Employment Database is accessible only in the Straz computer lab in the College of Business Administration.
