CGES Goals and Activities
Marquette University and the College of Business Administration are pleased to announce the formation of the Center for Global Economic Studies (CGES). The CGES has been established to provide a focal point for addressing the increasing importance of global and economic issues. The activities of the CGES include the formation of a distinguished speaker series on global and economic affairs, the presentation of other public discussions, lectures and publications on contemporary economic issues to the business community, and the creation of development opportunities for MU faculty and students.
The activities of the Institute are aimed at promoting faculty research in economics, fostering a close relationship between the University and the Milwaukee area business community as they address global and economic issues, and furthering international education at Marquette University. With regard to the latter, both undergraduate programs (the interdisciplinary major in International Affairs and the highly acclaimed International Business specialization of the College of Business) and graduate programs (the International Economics specialization as part of the Master of Science in Applied Economics) have been strengthened by the existence of the Center.
Goals:
- Bring distinguished experts on global and economic affairs to Marquette University to address the scholarly and business communities.
- Seek internships for graduate and undergraduate students in local firms engaged in international business.
- Promote new international opportunities for faculty, students and the Milwaukee business community.
We are seeking business, government, and non-profit partners to further understanding and involvement in the global economy
