7, 1999 - David L. Shrock has been named the new dean of the College
of Business Administration. Shrock is dean of the Darla Moore School
of Business at the University of South Carolina. He will assume
his post at Marquette on July 1.
President Robert A. Wild, S.J.,
said, "As dean at South Carolina - one of the top business schools in the
country - and previously at Iowa State, David Shrock has proved himself
to be an academic leader with real vision. He has demonstrated the ability
to work with faculty, administration and external constituencies alike
to develop the strategies to carry an institution forward and to make them
happen. We are very pleased that he is coming to Marquette."
The University of South Carolina
School of Business serves 2,500 undergraduate students, 1,000 master's
degree candidates, 100 doctoral degree candidates and 2,500 executive education
program participants. Its undergraduate and MBA programs are ranked in
the top 50 nationally by U.S. News and World Report and Business Week,
respectively.
Shrock, 58, a native of Kokomo,
Ind., has been dean at South Carolina since 1994. Prior to this, he was
dean of the College of Business at Iowa State University (1989 - 1994),
and, associate dean and acting associate dean of the College of Business
at Arizona State University (1986 to 1989).
