Internships

You’ve acquired the skills and knowledge in the classroom; now really apply it as part of a practical work experience. To help you do that, the College of Business Administration has an established internship program that helps bring employers, faculty and students together in high quality work experiences.

Employers benefit from hiring College of Business Administration students in many ways, including the chance to recruit and screen potential future employees virtually risk-free and as a way to create a pipeline of talent for your future staffing needs. The positions allow the interns to prove themselves as employees and these experiences allow firms the opportunity to evaluate prospective employee for relatively low cost. College of Business Administration students are enthusiastic and productive employees that can bring your organization fresh and innovative ideas, and are reliable workers that provide you quality work for your ongoing tasks allowing your permanent staff the chance to undertake more creative projects.

The College and the faculty gain from our internship program as well by allowing students to benefit from learning experiences that are more valuable than lecturers and case studies. The internships also help connect faculty to current trends and top professionals in their discipline. Those ties can be used to further the classroom experience even for those that are not able to do an internship experience.

And, of course, our students benefit from an internship in numerous ways. These include getting exposure to real-world problems and issues that may not be in your textbooks; get resume-building experiences as you apply the skills and knowledge you’ve acquired in the classroom; help fund your education; increase your self-confidence; expand your network of associates and professionals in the work force; and increase your marketability to employers – those that have internships tend to get more job offers prior to graduation and earn a higher starting salary than those without internship experiences.
